It’s the season for pencils, backpacks and books! For parents, it’s the ‘most wonderful time of the year’ when their children return to the classroom and organized activities. Your child may have begun their orthodontic journey over summer break – so how can they feel prepared for the school year ahead?

At Windermere Orthodontics we can help!

Tip #1: Pack an orthodontic care kit – make sure your child has a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, orthodontic wax, compact mirror and water in a zippered bag.

Tip #2: Eat an orthodontic-friendly lunch – make sure they avoid crunchy and hard foods to protect their smile and orthodontic appliances. They can enjoy soft foods such as yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, pasta, potato salad, and steamed vegetables for lunch. Be sure to continue to brush after meals too (including school lunches).

Tip #3: Keep up with orthodontic appointments – these appointments help keep your child’s treatment on track. We know the school year can get busy, but try to stick to your appointment schedule as best you can!
